Week 287
Positive post Sunday, August 21, 2022- Week 287.
As promised last week, today’s PPS expands on the important role time plays in our quest for spiritual wealth. Below are a few articles I find both thought provoking and actionable. I encourage you to read them and pray for guidance on how you might adjust how you spend your time to build spiritual wealth through lifelong learning.
Here is a link to an article titled, “Principles of Spiritual Growth: Spiritual Growth Takes Time” by Tim LaFleur. This is a quick read noting that God’s will is for every believer to grow and mature. However spiritual growth does not happen “on accident”, it requires Intentionality.
Below is a link to the 8 Keys to Spiritual Growth & A Closer Walk with God, by Mary Rooney Armand. Armand shares her list of the 8 elements and 8 keys to spiritual growth.
Here are my top 5 elements. What are your top 5?
1. We become more selfless
2. We adjust how we spend our time
3. We become more generous with our resources
7. We spend more time with God in prayer and worship
8. We focus more on the eternal instead of the temporal
Here are my top 4 keys to spiritual growth. What are your top 4?
Key 1 Embrace Humility & Gratitude
Key 4: Spend Time with People Who are Invested in Spiritual Growth
Key 5 Serve and Give
Key 6 Participate in a Church Community
Here is a link to an article titled, “Taking the Time to Grow Spiritually”, by Gary Henry: https://wordpoints.com/ser0022-taking-time-grow…/…
Henry references a book on time management for Christians titled, “The Tyranny of the Urgent” by Charles Hummel. The book notes that it is dangerous to let the “urgent” crowd out the “important” in our lives. Henry cautions us that if we become too busy for the activities God has designed for our personal spiritual growth, we are in serious jeopardy. He notes that time for spiritual growth must be more than a resolution we keep for a few days and then fall back into our old ways.
How will you shift more of your time to achieve spiritual wealth through sustainable time alone with God?
What steps will you take to make sure you are spending time with those who help you grow spiritually?
