Week 271

Positive post Sunday, May 1, 2022- Week 271.

As we grow up, we hear many sayings in our personal and professional lives. There’s “The early bird catches the worm” and “Practice makes perfect” to name a few. You may also be familiar with these: “Life is what happens when you’re busy making other plans”, John Lennon and “When the going gets tough, the tough get going”, Joe Kennedy, and the list goes on.

When in my youth, these sayings, and many others, were just things older people said and they really did not have much meaning to me. However, as I have navigated through my life journey, I have gained perspective and experience, and now I am the older person who shares many sayings I have heard over the years, with deep and meaningful examples of how I have applied them in my life.

To use a golf saying, the background above “teed up” my PPS for today. We have all heard the saying “time flies”. Well, this saying really hit home yesterday afternoon for Michele and me. Our little angels Kendall and Nikole, born on August 13, 2004, went to their high school prom. It seems like just yesterday that I was in the hospital baptizing them because we did not know if they were going to survive long enough for our priest to make it there, and there we were yesterday, taking the pictures below before they left for the prom. God is good!

Words cannot express how blessed we are that our little angels not only survived but have thrived. They have grown up to be beautiful, caring and faithful young ladies. It has been both an honor and privilege to raise them. This reminds me of another saying, the popular proverb “It takes a village to raise a child”. Those that know our family, know that this has been especially true in raising the girls and Christian. My deepest appreciation goes out to ALL our family and friends who have and continue to pray for and support the girls and Christian. I am grateful for every one of you. I am especially thankful for Michele; she has unequivocally been the servant leader of our village and the foundation on which we have and continue to raise our little angels.

Kendall and Nikole, you will be graduating from high school on June 8th! Mommom and I are so proud of you, and we look forward to continuing to support you as you embark on the next chapter in your lives. Remember, as Henry Ford once said, “Whether you think you can or you think you can’t, you’re right”. We believe in both of you and think (know) you can accomplish whatever you set your minds to. Please know that we will always be here for you. May God continue to bless and guide you both!
