Week 248

Positive post Sunday, November 21, 2021- Week 248.

For this week’s PPS, the Sunday before Thanksgiving, I decided to research my own writing and went back into my PPS archives for the last 3 Sundays before Thanksgiving (Weeks 92, 145 and 196 in years 2018, 2019 and 2020 respectively).

As you might expect, what I wrote about and what I have been thankful for over these past years has been very consistent and the foundation of my life – Faith, Family, Health and Freedom.  I have also traditionally recognized the nonprofit organizations who serve others, mainly Goodwill Southern California and the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.  I have been honored to serve on the Board of both these amazing organizations and I’ve been blessed to see firsthand lives being changed and saved.

This past year, on November 22, 2020, I wrote about celebrating Thanksgiving during a pandemic and here we are a year later still navigating through the challenges and impacts.  Once again, I’m hopeful we will all celebrate Thanksgiving in a responsible manner this year as we continue the traditions of celebrating the many blessings we are thankful for in our lives.  My prayers are with those families who have lost loved ones this past year and I’m thankful for all those who cared for them.

My faith and family continue to be the foundation of my life and I give thanks to the Lord once again this year for my health.  After 2 life threatening experiences, I’m well aware that He can bring us home at any time and I’m thankful to be alive to continue my faith journey.  I’m grateful for all those who have cared for and prayed for me.  I’m also thankful for all my friends and family members who have gone before me.  I’m blessed to have had them in my life.  Their influence and love over the years has been inspirational and made my life meaningful.

I continue to be thankful for all our military, both past and present, and their families.  I’m grateful for the sacrifices they have and continue to make so we can all enjoy our freedom.  It’s through their selfless efforts that we are able to celebrate Thanksgiving and all holidays.  May those that have paid the ultimate price be resting in peace knowing that their service and sacrifice allows us to continue to celebrate holidays freely.

Who are you thankful for in your life?  Have you let them know?

How have you expressed your appreciation for those who have and continue to serve so you can enjoy your freedom?

What nonprofit organization have you or your family members benefited from?  Have you offered them your time, talent or treasure?
