Week 240

Positive post Sunday, September 26, 2021- Week 240.

Last week, our amazing daughters took Michele shopping for her 60th birthday.  Those that know Michele, know that shopping is one of her “favorite” things to do.  One might say that her love for shopping is second only to her love for our Lord. I think I’m third, but I might be after ice-cream.

As Heather Rendler Stinson shared in her recent post, “Shopping is more than just going to a mall and buying things, it’s been a way my mom has spent quality time with each of us”.  And that’s just what they did.  The girls developed a creative, thoughtful and interactive game that created an environment for them to share quality time and that made their shopping experience fun.  I can’t go into the details because they are planning to trademark the game😊.  What I can say is that I was fortunate to be offered the opportunity to contribute to their quality time by contributing cash to the bank☹.

As you can see from the pictures below, our daughters were vying for the esteemed honor of being crowned the “Favorite Daughter”.  Although the competition was fierce, with varying tactics that brought out each of their personalities and unique qualities, one thing was consistent and continues to be very clear, they all have the deepest respect and love for their mother.

With all that as background, Michele and I do have a favorite child!  As noted by Dawn Armstrong below, it’s our daughter, son or grandchild who needs us most AT ANY GIVEN TIME.

We have been raised by loving parents who made sacrifices for us and our siblings for our wellbeing AT VARIOUS TIMES in our lives, and we are honored to pay it forward.  We love each of our children equally and for who they are, and we value, cherish and respect their uniqueness.  We thank God for them and pray for their wellbeing and the wellbeing of our grandchildren.

Our greatest gift to all our family will always be a foundation of faith.  We pray that they continue to build their lives on this strong and sturdy foundation, giving God thanks for the blessings in their lives, asking for his guidance during the challenging times and asking for his forgiveness for those times they stumble.

What tradition, like shopping, do you have to spend quality time with your parents and children?

Do you treat all your children as “Favorite Daughters”, especially during their times of greatest need?

What gift are you giving, or have you given, your children and grandchildren that brings them closer to God and prepares them for life everlasting?
