Week 212

Positive post Sunday, March 14, 2021- Week 212.

While attending Mass in our church last Sunday for the first time in roughly a year, I was looking around the church and appreciating all the symbols of my faith that I had not seen in so long.  Fourteen of those symbols, which are prominently displayed around the church, were the Stations of the Cross.

The Stations of the Cross depict Jesus’ journey and provide a historical and graphic representation of the pain and suffering he endured for us.  As I continue my Lenten journey and prepare for Easter, I reflect on the unimaginable suffering Jesus went through in order for us to have the opportunity to earn everlasting life.

In the video link below, you can see Cardinal Timothy M. Dolan talking about praying the Stations of the Cross while remembering those who are suffering and those who assist the sick.  Cardinal Dolan suggests that these can be Personal Stations of the Cross, because in serving the sick, we are serving Jesus.  He reminds us that Jesus told us, as long as you do it to one of these, the least of my brethren, you do it for me.  My prayers go out to both those who are suffering and those who serve them.  May their reward be eternal life.

How are you preparing for Easter?

What cross are you carrying?  Are you praying for God’s grace and seeking his guidance on your journey?

How are you caring for the sick and those in need?
