Week 195

Positive post Sunday, November 15, 2020- Week 195.

My family and I are proud parishioners at the Holy Name or Jesus parish community in Redlands where we are blessed to have wonderful clergy and staff.  One of our priests Fr. Gino, is an amazing man of God who motivates and inspires our family each week with his enthusiastic, thoughtful and relevant homilies.  When Fr. Gino said “Keep Christ’s light burning brightly in your life” during his homily at Mass last Sunday, he inspired me to write this week’s PPS.

My first reaction was to think of the many ways in which Christ’s light burns brightly in my life.  Those who know me well will not be surprised that the Triangle of Life (Faith, Family and Fitness) is where I believe the good Lord’s light burns the brightest in my life.  Read my PPSs 46 on December 31, 2017, 47 on January 7, 2018, 48 on January 14, 2018 and 98 on December 30, 2018 for more details if you’re interested in learning about the Triangle of Life.  I thank God and count my blessings every day for my strong faith, family and friends and physical and mental fitness, especially during these last 6 weeks which have been some of the most challenging in my life.  I simply could not have made it through the toughest part of my recovery and won’t be able to continue my journey, which is far from over, without my Triangle of Life here to guide and support me.

My second reaction was to ask myself, “How do I keep Christ’s light burning brightly in other’s lives?”  This is a tough question to ask one’s self, but I’m hopeful that my PPSs shine some of Christ’s light upon those who take the time to read them.  I consider myself a humble candle bearer in training of Christ’s light, and I’m hopeful and pray that he guides me to act, serve and live my life in a way that leads my family and friends closer to him.  It’s been said that when you bless someone else when you are going through your own storm, that’s love.  I hope I have blessed all the health care providers and family members who have and continue to help me recover, and the many friends who are helping with prayers and support.

Dear Lord, as I continue to weather my storm, please bless each and every one of those that have aided me and their families.  Keep them safe and healthy as they continue to do your work here on earth.  Please let them all know how deeply grateful and appreciative I am for their help and that they are in my prayers.  My light shines even brighter as a result of their support.

How do you keep Christ’s light burning brightly in your life and the lives of others?
