Week 186

Positive post Sunday, September 13, 2020- Week 186.

I’ve been blessed to serve on several nonprofit Boards over the years and although each experience has been unique, rewarding and fulfilling, some stand out more than others. One example that comes to mind is my service on the Board of Directors of Goodwill Southern California. Our mission is: Transforming Lives Through the Power of Work, and that’s exactly what we do.

It is truly an honor to be a part of a distinguished, diverse, resourceful and engaged Board of leaders. Along with the senior leadership and staff at Goodwill, we are all driven and inspired by the powerful examples of the many lives that have been transformed by providing training, counseling, employment and most importantly, a sense of purpose, pride and confidence to those in need. I encourage you to take a few minutes to read and watch a few of the many success stories from those served by Goodwill. Here’s the link: https://powerofwork.goodwillsocal.org/success-stories/. I’m certain you will be moved by the life changing experiences of those who were facing seemingly unsurmountable challenges.

If you took the time to read and watch the stories then, like me, you will never look at Goodwill the same. You will have a far deeper understanding of the amazing impact your donation of used goods and financial contributions have on the lives of so many in need.

Goodwill is far more than just that place where you take your used goods, Goodwill helps those with barriers to employment find sustainable work. When you hear benefactors of Goodwill services like Alex Garcia say, “My past does not determine my future”, or listen to Bobby’s story of elevating from the streets of skid row to active and meaningful employment at Goodwill, you will realize that your contribution truly changing lives!

What do you do to transform the lives of those in need?
