Week 168

Positive post Sunday, May 10,  2020- Week 168.

Have you ever met an Angel?  I have, in fact, just last Sunday while Michele, Benjamin and I were on our morning walk (actually, Benjamin was in a stroller).  While walking down Cypress Avenue across the street from Cope Middle School where all our children and a few of our grandchildren attended, we came across this special Angel walking her companion, Duchess, a beautiful silky black lab full of energy.

I don’t believe this encounter was by chance, but rather a gift from the good Lord.  You see, I had just finished writing and posting my Positive Post Sunday and with a clear mind on a brisk sunny morning walk, I was thinking about the topic for my post the following Sunday (today) and the good Lord sent me an Angel to help.  Literally, Angel Jones, or Mrs. Jones to her 1st grade class at McKinley Elementary School.

Last Sunday I wrote about how it is more blessed to give than receive.  Well, the Angel the good Lord sent me is surely blessed.  As a teacher for many years, she has been a role model for “giving”, helping develop and shape the minds of many of the children in our community.  Listening to her talk about the current challenges in educating our young children through distance learning with passion and concern reminded me that our teachers are also on the “Frontline” working hard to adapt and continue to nourish the minds of our youth, helping them to grow during these unprecedented times.  I’m certain you would agree, and likely have examples of teachers in your lives, that anyone who can keep the attention of over 20 first graders in a classroom, let alone virtually, is not only an Angel, but a true blessing to our children.

I ask that we all keep ALL our teachers and their families in our prayers as they continue to educate our children of all ages.  Their calling, dedication and passion for developing the youth in our community, is admirable and inspirational, and I for one am deeply grateful for each and everyone of them.  Along with all others on the frontline in many diverse professions helping us navigate through this pandemic, my thoughts and prayers are with Angel and ALL teachers and their families.  Here is a link to ways we can recognize their efforts titled, “14 Ways to Virtually Celebrate Teachers During COVID-19”: https://ptaourchildren.org/virtual-teacher-appreciation-week-ideas/

Lord, thank you for sending me an Angel so I could write to remind us all how blessed we are to have amazing teachers guiding our children, especially through these challenging times.  Please guide our teachers and give them the strength, creativity and patience needed to help our children continue to learn and grow during these difficult times.  Please keep them and their families healthy and safe.

I found the grace of God on a Sunday morning walk, where do you find God’s grace in your everyday life?

Who is/was that special Angel/teacher in your life?  Have you let them know how they helped you and shared the impact they have had on your life?
