Week 163

Positive post Sunday, April 5, 2020- Week 163.

My prayers continue to be with my fellow Americans as we enter what will likely be the most challenging week our nation will face to date in our fight against COVID-19, especially ALL those who have lost loved ones.  My deepest appreciation and gratitude goes out to all those from the grandmother making face coverings at home for her family to ALL those on the frontline for your tireless and selfless acts of heroism fighting for the health and safety of so many Americans.

Our values certainly get tested during times of crisis and we quickly find out who we really are, or as they say, what we’re made of.  For me, these challenging times reinforce my values of Faith, Family and Fitness, the “Triangle of Life” (See my PPSs for weeks 46 on December 31, 2017, 47 on January 7, 2018, 48 on January 14, 2018 and 98 on December 30, 2018 for more details).

Speaking of Faith, today is a very important day for all Christians.  It’s Palm Sunday, the final Sunday of Lent and the beginning of Holy Week.  Palm Sunday commemorates the triumphant arrival of Jesus in Jerusalem, days before he was crucified.  Have you ever wondered what the palms signify?  Palm branches were considered symbols of victory and triumph at the time, and Jesus’ followers spread them at his feet as he was coming back to Jerusalem.  Although, due to our current health crisis, we are not able to celebrate Palm Sunday at church, we can certainly celebrate through Masses offered online by many churches.  It’s comforting and inspirational to see Christians from around the world finding creative ways to express their Faith and celebrate Palm Sunday.  One example is the placing of palms, tree branches or greenery on your front doors and windows facing the street.

I wish all my fellow Christians a blessed and reflective Holy Week as we prepare for Easter, the joyous resurrection of Jesus.

In what ways has this health crisis brought you closer to your Faith?

Have you learned your true values and what you are made of?
