Week 157

Positive post Sunday, February 23, 2020- Week 157.

Have you ever been cleaning a room, redecorating or moving and found a gift or memento you received many years ago that brought back fond memories?  Well, I just had that experience this past week while I was packing up my office at work to move to a new office.  While taking all the pictures and plaques off my desk, I found a gift my kids gave me for my 50th birthday (see the photo attached).  It had been sitting right in front of me for the past 9 years, but along with the many other things on my desk, I really hadn’t looked at it for a longtime.  What a thoughtful and wonderful gift that I’m sure my cycling buddies and others will appreciate.

This caused me to pause for a moment and look at the other things on my desk and in the boxes I never unpacked from the last time I changed offices.  Not to get to nostalgic, but it was like a trip down memory lane, from both a career and family perspective.  I also realized I need to update my family photos😊 and that I have an opportunity for a fresh start with less clutter in my new office.  I’m sure Alison appreciates my minimalist effort!

Most importantly, this experience made me think of the many things I have right in front of me each and every day that I may also look at but not truly see or appreciate as much as I should.  So, I did a walkthrough of my house as if I had never been there before and noted the things I found most important.  All our family photos are second only to the photos I’ve attached.  This simple, yet empowering experience made me realize that what we put in our homes or offices is not only a reflection of our interests, but a statement on the priorities in our lives and who we are.

What is right in front of you every day that has deep meaning but that you may not be seeing?

Do the things you have displayed in your home or office reflect the priorities in your life and who you truly are?

Keep on Pedaling (which I translate to, Keep on Living)!!
