Week 144
Positive post Sunday, November 17, 2019- Week 144.
Could you imagine living a life without ever making a mistake? Or perhaps a better question would be, would you want to? If you’re like me, you believe that the greatest learning and growth opportunities in our lives are presented when we make mistakes. However, to embrace those moments where we are less than perfect and learn from them we must first recognize when we’ve failed.
This is often the biggest challenge. Recognizing our mistakes takes effort and requires self-awareness and reflection and the openness to listen to those we trust and value. If we don’t see and understand our mistakes, how can we learn and grow from them? Once we’ve identified a mistake, Paul Bear Bryant, legendary head coach of the University of Alabama football team, had some sound advice, “When you make a mistake, there are only three things you should ever do about it: admit it, learn from it, and don’t repeat it.”
Sound advice from coach Bryant, but some mistakes or errors we make in our lives are greater than others and may require a fourth thing to do about it, pray and ask for God’s guidance and forgiveness. As human beings we are certainly not perfect, and we can all benefit from his guidance as we navigate through the opportunities and challenges he presents to us in our daily lives. The beauty is, as shared by Mercy Me in their song Flawless, regardless of our mistakes, or the bumps and bruises we experience throughout our lives, the cross has made us flawless. If this video doesn’t warm our heart, nothing will!
Have you recognized the mistakes you have made in your life this far and have you admitted to them, learned from them, and asked the good Lord for forgiveness and guidance so you don’t repeat them? Looking forward, do you have a strong support system in place to make sure you learn and grow from future mistakes?
