Week 90
Positive post Sunday, November 4, 2018- Week 90.
A letter to my wife. Michele Rendler, I am incredibly proud of you and blessed to be your husband. You are an amazing woman who always puts other’s needs ahead of your own. You are a true woman of faith and one of the most generous and giving people I know. You are an amazing wife, mother and “mommom” with the patience of an angel, raising our 5 children and now our grandchildren. You have taught me so much about parenting and community service and I’m grateful to be walking through our life journeys together.
Speaking of journeys, it has truly been an honor to support you in your campaign for the RUSD Board of Education. You are by far, the most qualified and experienced candidate, but most importantly, your passion for the development of the youth in our community and dedication to our students and schools in Redlands for over 25 years is second to none. As Lisa Purcell Rorick and Ron and Ann VanDamme said, you have run a professional grassroots campaign with a diverse group of people with varying backgrounds, ages and political beliefs, unified by your love and care for school children and their families. You have clearly kept your focus on the pillars of your campaign, 1) School Safety and Security, 2) Innovative Learning Environments, 3) College and Workforce Preparedness and 4) Expanded Classroom Resources, which will provide you a strong foundation and guide you as a member of the Board of Education.
As a member of your campaign team, I have also had an inside view of your campaign and outreach. I have walked side by side with you over these past several weeks, literally going door to door to over 1,000 homes and observed you preparing for forums and meetings with community leaders. Your passion and genuine concern for our students, parents, and teachers and the overall health of our schools is so visible in everything you do. You are amazing to watch. With your experience and deep understanding of our education system, not only have you listened to many concerns of our fellow residents, but on several occasions, you were able to provide parents guidance and support, explaining services currently offered and connecting them to the appropriate personnel and resources. Seeing their surprise with the depth of your knowledge and their appreciation for your help was rewarding.
As your husband, I have had the privilege of having a backstage view of, not only your campaign, but your many years of service to our community. I have personally observed you staying up late nights preparing for, or planning, a PTA, LCAP, REP or Redlands Community Scholarship Foundation meeting or event after getting the kids to bed. I have also heard you on the phone late at night and early in the morning, supporting and mentoring numerous parents interested in getting involved in in their child’s education and PTA, helping PTAs with their budgets, taxes and recruiting so they can continue to exist and encouraging others to get involved with all these important educational organizations. You are truly a role model for community service and leadership, a legacy we both hope to leave to our children.
We are just two days away from the election!! I’m confident that our fellow residents will recognize and value your experience, deep engagement and presence within our schools, rich history of representing student, parent and teacher needs and success in securing resources for our schools by electing you to the RUSD Board of Education. The students, parents and teachers of RUSD deserve a qualified and engaged Board member. Vote for Michele Rendler, RUSD School Board!!
Finally, I would like to thank all those who have helped with your campaign. As I’m sure you are, I am overwhelmed by all the support you have received from family, friends, local community leaders and the overall Redlands community. I’m very thankful for their support. As a member of the Board of Education, you will have a very strong and diverse network of support within the community.
With all my love and support,
Dan
