Week 80

Positive post Sunday, August 26, 2018- Week 80.

The first reading at Mass this week focused on serving the Lord and included one of my favorite scripture passages, Joshua 24:15, which in part says “…as for me and my house, we will serve the lord”.  You may have seen this saying framed on the wall at a store, friend’s house or at church, or if you visit our house, you will see the plate in the photo below standing prominently on a table as you walk in our front door.

Have you ever walked in your house and looked at something that had been there for years that you haven’t noticed for a while?  Well, that happened to me when I returned home after Mass last night, there it was, the plate in the photo below that had been sitting on the table for the past few years.  So, I sat down for a few minutes and reflected on what it means for my house to serve the Lord.

We can choose to serve the Lord in many ways and God offers us many opportunities.  Michele Lomen Rendler and I have chosen to serve the Lord by serving our growing family and his disciples through our active engagement at church and in our community.  Whether it’s Michele serving the youth, parents and teachers of our community through her work with the schools, or myself serving Goodwill and the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society or both of us being Eucharistic Ministers at church, we are honored to serve the Lord by serving others.

How do you and your house serve the Lord?

Here is a song from Promise Keepers that reminds me of the importance of servings the Lord and helps me stay grounded in my faith, https://youtu.be/cjoFhzMJfE0.
