Week 62
Positive post Sunday, April 22, 2018- Week 62.
For this week’s post I decided to focus on Sacrificial Giving, the act of donating our time, talents and treasures beyond our means. Although we all have our struggles and crosses to bear in life, we are all blessed in so many ways. We have all heard the saying “count your blessings”. Well, try it, you might be surprised to realize how many blessings you have in your life. I’m not suggesting we ignore the difficult areas in our lives but rather to remember to recognize, appreciate and share the positive areas. I have found it very helpful and uplifting, and often humbling, when I take inventory of the many blessings in my life rather than getting absorbed by the challenges. Whether it be my unwavering faith, loving family, God given skills, or my health and fitness, I am truly blessed.
Recognizing and appreciating our many blessings and God given gifts is important, but what we do with them is what shapes our character and defines who we are as human beings. That’s where sacrificial giving comes in. The communities we live and work in and the churches we attend exist because of those that generously give their time, talent and treasures, often beyond their means and ahead of their own personal needs. How do you share your time, talent and treasures in your community and with those who are less fortunate? Do you thank the good Lord for your many blessings?
In closing, I would like to share an overview of the Rendler Family Foundation. The Foundation was established a year ago this week in honor of my parents Dana and Ken Rendler in appreciation for, and recognition of the legacy of faith, family, service and “sacrificial giving” they modeled their entire lives and will leave for future generations to follow. We are so blessed to still have them both in or lives and are celebrating my mom’s 81st birthday this week. The foundation was established to raise funds to enrich and enhance the lives of families with three areas of focus: Faith, Education and Health & Fitness. As the Foundation is new, we are hopeful to raise enough funds to make our first donation within the next year.
