Week 56
Positive post Sunday, March 11, 2018- Week 56.
Michele and I got an early start on spring cleaning and decided to tackle organizing our shelves in our garage (Truth be told, I decided it was time to organize the shelves!). While embarking on this multi-day effort, I found a container full of books that I read in the past, including virtually every Chicken Soup for the Soul book written by Jack Canfield and Mark Victor Hansen.
For those of you who have not been blessed from reading these books, I strongly encourage you to do so. Each book is a collection of thoughtful, heartwarming (or heartbreaking), uplifting, and inspiring short stories that walk you down memory lane of your own life experiences and journey. Once you open your first book and start reading the first short story, I guarantee you will find it very hard to stop reading the next story, then the next one ……. I remember reading one of the 300+ page books cover to cover one day.
Being Lent, I started re-reading the Chicken Soup for the Christian Family Soul and had to force myself to take a break to write this post. Chapter 5, Acts of Kindness, fits well with my Lenten focus this year, giving rather than the tradition of giving up. William Wordsworth said it best, “The best portion of a good man’s life is his little, nameless, unremembered acts of kindness and love”, or perhaps Willian Penn, “If there is any kindness I can show, or any good thing I can do to any fellow human being, let me do it now, and not defer or neglect it, as I shall not pass this way again”. If this post results in just one “Act of Kindness” from my Facebook friends, it was well worth the time writing it!
