Week 33
Positive post Sunday, October 1, 2017-Week 33.
Have you ever heard of “Mindfulness”? This past week while taking courses in an executive leadership program at USC, I had the pleasure of experiencing mindfulness with a true leader in the field, Professor Allen Weiss. Allen is a senior mindfulness meditation teacher at InsightLA, co-chair of Mindful USC and CEO and Founder of Marketing Profs. Mindfulness is the practice of meditation where your thoughts tune into what you’re sensing in the present moment rather than rehashing the past or imagining the future.
In this high paced, complex and stressful world we live in, I welcomed the opportunity to disconnect, or get off the grid, for a few minutes to refresh my mind. I found the brief and structured experience to be relaxing and rejuvenating. I would expect that if I incorporated it into my daily routine, like physical exercise, I would sharpen my mind, bring more thoughtfulness to my decision making, and manage through life’s challenges in a more calm and thoughtful manner. I just may give it a shot and see where it takes me!
