Week 419
Positive Post Sunday, March 9, 2025…. Week 419. Michele and I were blessed to attend our grandson Christian’s Confirmation retreat yesterday, with the added benefit of spending quality time with Ed, Sarah and Owen Bonadiman. Owen is also preparing for the sacrament of Confirmation. It was enriching and insightful to share our experiences and Catholic faith journeys with the boys.
The focus of the retreat was on the Catholic Mass. We were reminded that Mass is not about us and that the Trinity is God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit not Me, Myself and I😊. This was a good foundation for our discussions on the Mass, as the Mass is not about us, what we are doing or who is attending, it’s a gift from God our Father.
Some may see Mass as repetitive or even boring, I choose to see Mass as a collision of heaven and earth, where the divine and humanity are present. Mass is a gift from God with the Eucharist at the center. Experiencing the transformation of bread and wine into to the body and blood of Jesus Christ and receiving Holy Communion is not repetitive or boring to me, but rather a profound and sacred moment that deepens my faith.
I certainly recognize that many Christians attend different types of services depending on their denomination and personal preferences. While the Catholic Mass, dating back over 2000 years to the Last Supper, is the central act of worship in the Roman Catholic Church, other Christian denominations have their own forms of worship services. Regardless of your form of worship, it’s essential to recognize its importance in nurturing your spiritual journey and sense of community. Worship, in its various forms, serves as a vital connection to the divine, providing a space for reflection, gratitude, and spiritual growth.
